Most races do seem pretty quick to attack without negotiating, and spy the hell out of you even if your allies. I didn't even have enough reputation to gift the guy money to ease relations, he wouldn't accept it. The one time I did try to barter with someone I was fully disgusted (within reason: starting traits negative, killed millions of their race, ect). I enjoy killing everything and tend to ignore diplomacy so I can't really speak up about that part. gives you the feeling that you don't have a choice to play as the "swarm" type. That said it seems more balanced for Opteris than it does for the Vulfin with smaller ships. By the time endgame comes around you don't really care bout the CP price or have unlocked enough to be under the limit. The new CP (unit cap) that is expandible has a nice early game strategy to it. The graphics/UI are the first thing that stands out, it's done well. If you're one of those people that's sore about the first game being incomplete or whatever (I more than got my money's worth out of the original, personally), watch some lets plays and see what you think. Worth the price on its own, even more so if you owned (and liked) the original game. TL DR: Overall awesome, a few minor things keep it from being equivalent to a major AAA title, but for an independent game this thing is beast. The only other option I can think of is conquest victory like in the first game (can't make federations I think), but that's going to take quite a while. I can't figure out how to beat the game!! I read something about a story victory with the portals that randomly appear, so far I've destroyed every fleet that's come out of the portals, studied two of the portals through research, but nothing happens when I take a fleet to the portals themselves. One last thing, although this might just be me. I also wish I could tell how other races feel about me, the first Stardrive had different meters for like trust and fear and stuff, but that's totally missing here from what I've seen. I haven't messed with espionage much yet, but I do agree with others that diplomacy is a little limited. Other than that, combat is fun and feels more grounded in reality than the first game (no more light and ultra-fast Titans that can run circles around frigates and decimate entire fleets with disintegrators, as fun as that was), the colony management is much more interesting and meaningful, and I love the graphics and art style. The ground combat needs some serious upgrades to the UI and to performance in general, since it tends to hang when I make my units move or shoot, and I haven't experienced this performance issue anywhere else. Ground combat!! While it's an interesting take and fun the first battle or two, right now it's just way too wonky and unpolished, it brings down the whole game in my opinion. I'm liking it a lot, huge improvement over the first Stardrive in every way, except one.
